Behind the Blushing Curtain · Real Bride Rachel W.
Rachel W. knew the feeling she wanted in her wedding dress: classic, timeless, romantic, and vintage-inspired. She wasn’t searching for a particular designer. She was looking for a dress that brought her ideas together—and felt like her.
There was also one detail she was certain about from the beginning.
“And absolutely NO bling. That was one thing I had in my head from the beginning and definitely stuck to!”
Before her appointment, Rachel had saved plenty of inspiration. Each dress had something she loved, but she hadn’t yet seen one that combined everything she was imagining.
“I had joked with my sisters before shopping that I had saved so many dresses I liked, but I had never found one dress that combined everything I loved into one. Then I walked into The Blushing Bride and found exactly that!”
One of Rachel’s favorite parts of the appointment was having the freedom to browse with her family, explore the racks, and choose dresses to try—with Madison there to guide her.
Madison had read Rachel’s detailed notes before the appointment and pulled several gowns with her vision in mind. She also pointed them toward sections where they could discover more possibilities.
“We loved being able to fan out, walk around, and actually look through the dresses ourselves instead of just sitting back and having dresses brought to me.”
While browsing, Rachel spotted a dress herself. Her reaction was immediate.
“Honestly, I think I knew before I even put it on because when I first saw it I immediately went, ‘Ooooo!’”
Madison encouraged her to try it, sharing that she had a feeling Rachel would love it. She was right.
What surprised Rachel most was how quickly she found her dress. Once she put it on, the separate details she had loved in her inspiration photos finally came together.
“It just felt like me. It had everything I had been envisioning somehow combined into one dress.”
Then came the finishing touch.
“When we added the veil, that officially sealed it for me. That was the moment where it really became, ‘Yep, this is my dress.’”
She had found pretty much exactly what she had pictured: a gown that felt classic, romantic, and entirely her own.
For Rachel, the experience was as memorable as the dress. She appreciated having a stylist who understood her ideas while giving her room to enjoy the search.
“Madison had also done such a great job reading the novel I wrote beforehand and truly understood what I was envisioning.”
That preparation helped make the appointment feel relaxed and easy.
“It was so refreshing to have a stylist who genuinely listened and understood the vision in my head while still letting us have fun with the experience.”
Rachel’s Advice to Other Brides
Rachel encourages brides to bring their inspiration, but to leave some room for discovery.
“I’d also tell brides to have an idea of what you love, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to find the ‘perfect’ dress before you even start shopping.”
Her own experience is a lovely reminder that the dress you’re imagining may be waiting for you to see it in person.
“I had saved so many dresses and liked different things about each one, but I kept saying I wished I could find ONE dress that had all of those things combined. Turns out, I just hadn’t found it yet—because I found it at The Blushing Bride!”
One of Rachel’s “runner up’s” … we won’t reveal the ONE until after her big day!
