Before her appointment, Rebecca imagined herself in something timeless and A-line. She was drawn to simple gowns and felt fairly certain that a dramatic ballgown—anything that made a big, bold statement—wouldn’t feel like her.
She came to The Blushing Bride Boutique hoping to see a particular Madi Lane gown, but her appointment quickly opened her eyes to dresses from Madi Lane and several other designers.
Then her stylist suggested trying on a ballgown—just for fun.
She felt beautiful in it, but the gown wasn’t what she thought she wanted. Its subtle floral pattern even reminded her of her mother’s Christmas napkins. The two began affectionately referring to it as “the napkin dress,” and it didn’t make the top-three list they wrote down at the end of her appointment.
But something changed once she returned home.
Looking through the photographs and videos from her appointment, she began to see the dress differently. The floral pattern shimmered in a way she hadn’t noticed in person. More importantly, she saw herself glowing—standing taller and looking confident, joyful and completely at home in the gown.
The dress she hadn’t initially chosen became the one she couldn’t stop thinking about.
She returned to the boutique the following day. Her stylist looked at her knowingly and asked:
“So…the napkin dress?”
That shared joke—and all the laughter surrounding it—became part of the story she’ll remember every time she looks at her wedding gown.
“Come in with some ideas about what you want, but stay open to what your stylist suggests. This wasn’t a dress I would have chosen for myself. My stylist encouraged me to try on a ballgown just for fun, and it ended up becoming my dress.
I would also encourage brides to look through their pictures and videos afterward. Seeing yourself in a dress from another perspective can completely change the way you feel about it.”
Sometimes, finding your wedding dress isn’t about immediately recognizing the gown. Sometimes, it’s about recognizing yourself in it.
This was the dress that she came in for (Lissy by Madi Lane) … that she thought she would love!
This was the dress (Okina by Madi Lane) that she loved when she left the boutique. We will reveal the gown she decided on after her wedding on April 3, 2027.
